In this class, we will explore the art and science of creating beautiful, balanced plant arrangements using a diverse selection of plants with varying heights, textures, and colors. By thoughtfully combining tall, eye-catching focal plants with medium and low-growing filler and border plants, you’ll learn how to build visual depth and dynamic contrast in your garden or container displays. We’ll guide you through the process of choosing the right plants based not only on their aesthetic qualities but also on their compatibility with your yard's specific light, soil, and climate conditions.
You will also gain practical skills in selecting appropriate containers, as well as choosing the right type of soil or potting mix to support healthy root development. We will cover essential gardening techniques such as proper spacing for growth and airflow, efficient watering strategies to prevent disease and promote deep roots, and how and when to fertilize your plants for optimal growth.
In addition to design and planting basics, the class will touch on the ongoing care your plants will need throughout the seasons. This includes pruning, deadheading, pest management, and understanding plant lifecycles to keep your arrangements vibrant and thriving. Whether you're working with a small patio space or a full backyard, this course will equip you with the foundational knowledge to create and maintain stunning plant compositions that enhance your outdoor environment.
