  DUFFIELD’S FARM. . . where FUN is always in season!
Come and join us at Duffield’s farm for your next educational field trip. Our sessions are year round and centered for many different age groups. Below you will find a brief description of our yearly activities and the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards that are incorporated with each one.

HAYRIDES TO THE EASTER BUNNY HOUSE!
March 28, 29, & 30, April 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6 
9am to 2pm
Great for Kindergarten, Pre-K and Nursery School Children
$8.40 plus tax per student $3.75 plus tax per adult
Your students can board the hayride wagons at the farm market and ride to “Bunny Egg-res”. There they can each pick Easter eggs, and then walk to the bunny house and trade them for a chocolate treat. Then they can visit with the bunny and have a snack in the pavilion. Every field trip includes a visit to our educational “Learning Barn”, a building filled with farm related hands-on activities. The boys and girls can visit our farm animals and play on the hay bales and slides!
This program incorporates the following NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards:
4.9, 4.14, 5.3, 5.4, 6.4, 6.5

SPRING PLANTING SESSIONS (MAY)

“Many Hats the Farmer Wears”
This trip is recommended for 2nd and 3rd grade students
Your students can participate in an interactive skit and experience the many jobs that farmers have besides farming. Then, each student can plant seeds to take back to school and watch them grow!
This program incorporates the following NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards
1.2, 4.5, 4.9, 4.14, 5.3, 5.4, 5.6, 5.7, 6.4, 6.5
Nursery School thru 1st grades
“Hungry Hairy Caterpillar”
The Very Hungry Caterpillar story comes alive in our learning barn and each child can make a “Hairy Caterpillar” to take back to school and watch it grow on the windowsill!
This program incorporates the following NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards
4.5, 4.9, 4.14, 5.3, 5.4, 5.6, 5.7, 6.4, 6.5
Farmer Grows A Rainbow
This program can be adapted for Pre-K thru 5th Grade
Farmer Grows a Rainbow is a program that helps students develop awareness that farmers provide the variety and abundance of food we need to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Seed Soil Sun
The Plant Parts We Eat
This program is for 3rd & 4th graders
After reading the book SEED SOIL SUN: Earth’s Recipe for Food, we will talk briefly about the sun and its role in seed germination and also a plant’s ability to make and store its own food through photosynthesis. We will see the different plant parts and how they are used for food for animals and humans. The students will also tour the farm market to identify the different vegetables and what parts of the plant they came from.

STRAWBERRY PICKING (MAY & JUNE)
$8.40 plus tax per student $3.75 plus tax per adult (strawberries not included)
This trip is great for any age group! Take a hayride out to the strawberry field and pick a fresh quart of berries right off the vine! Each child will also receive a coloring book. Your students are always encouraged to visit the “Learning Barn” and see the animals.
